“Ending the Year on a High Note: Published in Blade Magazine KNIVES 2020
As 2020 draws to a close, I am thrilled to share the exciting news of my feature in the esteemed Blade Magazine KNIVES 2020. This year has been filled with challenges, but this recognition is truly a high point and a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship poured into my work.
One of the highlights featured in the magazine is the ‘Natural Galaxy Handle’ crafted by Andreas Kalani for the Damascus Kiritsuke—a knife meticulously designed for the delicate art of preparing fish and vegetables. This unique handle is a marvel of artistry, incorporating natural elements preserved in hand-poured and cured resin. Shaped with precision, it offers a glimpse into a mesmerizing journey through the natural galaxy, capturing the imagination with its intricate detail. (Image courtesy of SharpByCoop)
Another standout piece showcased is Andreas Kalani’s ‘Lagertha’ Japanese vegetable and sushi knife. This exquisite blade is forged from 52100 steel and treated with a special coating to enhance its performance and durability. Complementing the blade is a handle crafted from tamarind wood, adorned with canvas Micarta bolsters and copper liners, adding both elegance and functionality to the knife.
